Activism and storytelling in the postnational era
Activism and resistance no longer need to be such a solitary endeavor for on-the-ground social workers, members of a minority facing discrimination or people suffering in a war-torn country. Today, there are many technological platforms that facilitate closer connections between people around the world and encourage engagement beyond just a “like”. From written exchanges on social media to live-streamed protests, virtual presence can hold tremendous power of mobilization without boundaries. Thus, more than ever, traditional media — and new media in particular — can play a huge role in conflict prevention, conflict management and post-conflict reconstruction.
I propose a panel to discuss these premises.
