based on some chats i've had with folks, i wonder if some kind of roundtable on election reporting would be interesting. in one sense, there's fewer topics more likely to be 'biased', since elections deals directly with politics and political positions. but on the other hand, it's an obligation of democratic states to support impartial reporting for elections, and citizens need access to impartial information to make decisions about their future. for many countries this has been an ongoing struggle, and recent elections worldwide have highlighted the internet's/social media's potential for false/faulty info to impact results. maybe this is of interest to discuss, whether when it comes to elections something is 'broken', whether it's just the same ol' thing, whether there's a particular GV approach. could also invite some external folks in election administrations/observation around the world if that is also interesting, from 2015 Sri Lanka Parliamentary and elsewhere incl recent Kenya? (nb: if you couldn't tell, these tentative thoughts that are very much a brainstorm and could use some input especially if others find it worth having a session on!).
